Finding God in “New Moon”

Do you remember when that series of books came out?  “Finding God in ‘Harry Potter'”; “Finding God in ‘The Lord of the Rings'”.  I never actually read any of them, and I don’t think I’m going to be writing one any time soon, but I did have kind of a God moment when I went to see “New Moon” Saturday night.

No boy/vampire/werewolf will ever be there 100% of the time.  No matter what he promises, he will let you down.  There’s only one who will always be there, who will always protect you(me), who will always keep his promises–Jesus.

That’s all (shortest “Finding God…” book ever).  So obvious, can’t believe it took a $9 vampire movie to remind me.

And on a semi-related note, please pray for Liz today!

Behind the Scenes

I think that if I knew Francesca Battistella in real life, we’d be friends.  So many of her songs express exactly what I’ve been feeling lately.

This post has been rattling around my mind for the past two months, and I still don’t know exactly what to write.

Goodness, that sounds dramatic.

So here’s the deal.

I want my life to be completely focused on Jesus.  I’m not very good at making that happen.  This summer, it’s really been something I’ve been working on.  And I think that the number one thing I’ve learned is that it’s a constant, never-ending, can’t-let-up quest.  Because when I take my eyes off him for a moment, I’m Simon Peter, slipping under the water and back into those old, bad habits.  But God is good, and so forgiving and patient.  So I refocus my attention on him, shake the water off my face, and keep walking.

Thank you for putting up with my long absences and visiting me here.  I’m going to try to start posting more; I’ve got so much I want to share with you.

He Lives

I like bunnies as much (more, probably) as the next person, but that’s not what I was celebrating today.

I do so love Easter songs; I can’t help but belt them out with a big smile on my face.

“I serve a risen savior, He’s in the world today

I know that he is living, whatever men may say

I see his hand of mercy, I hear his voice of cheer

And just the time I need him, he’s always near

He Lives!  He Lives!  Christ Jesus lives today!

He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.

He Lives!  He Lives!  Salvation to impart,

You ask me how I know he lives–he lives within my heart.”

“Because he lives, I can face tomorrow

Because he lives, all fear is gone

Because I know-ow-ow he holds the future,

And life is worth the living just because he lives”

“Up from the grave he arose, with a mighty triumph o’er his foes

He arose a victor from the dark domain

And he lives forever with his saints to reign

He Arose!  He Arose!  Hallelujah, Christ arose!”
